Tarikh al-Khulafa is justly famous in Arabic, and rarely goes out of print. In the original it comprises the histories of all those who have been named as khulafa right up to the age in which as-Suyuti himself lived. For this volume Ta-Ha follow up the rightly guided caliphs with this volume on the Umayyad caliphs.

Abu al-Fadl Abd ar-Rahman Jalal ad-Din as-Suyuti was born on the night of Saturday the 1st of Rajab 849 AH (October 3, 1445 CE). As-Suyuti mastered most of the traditional studies of his day, particularly those relating to knowledge of hadith, and was the author of more than five hundred works on Quran, Sunnah, hadith, fiqh, seerah, and medicine. He is best remembered for his completion of the tafseer of Quran known as the Jalalayn, which had been left incomplete on the death of Jalal ad-Din al-Mahalli. He died on Thursday the 18th of Jumada al-Ula, 911 AH (October 17, 1505 CE). May Allah have mercy upon him.
