An Integrated Curriculum for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers

Curriculum Philosophy:

• The series covers all educational levels.
• It is developed according to modern global quality standards for teaching languages to non-native speakers.
• The series provides a curriculum that equips learners with essential skills.
• It offers a curriculum that is engaging for non-native learners.
• The curriculum does not rely on a bridge language for instruction.

Series Goals and Components:
The series aims to enable learners to communicate orally and in writing in Arabic.
It is designed for basic education from kindergarten to 12th grade for non-native Arabic speakers.

Each stage consists of three books:

• Student's Book
• Workbook
• Teacher's Guide

Additionally, the series includes audiovisual aids such as:

• Cards and posters
• A bilingual dictionary

Time Allocated for Teaching the Series:
Each level is taught over approximately 100 lessons (each lesson = 40 minutes), distributed as follows:

• 75 lessons for the Student's Book
• 25 lessons for the Workbook

Cultural Content:
The series introduces various aspects of Arab-Islamic culture in an engaging and attractive way for children, while also providing elements of shared general culture among children globally.

Linguistic Content:

• Introduction to the Arabic sound system with its different features
• Vocabulary drawn from the child's world
• Provision of essential grammatical structures

Methods of Presenting Educational Material:
The series uses various methods, including stories, songs, dialogues, language games, and entertainment.
It includes different types of language exercises suitable for children.

Each book contains several assessments to evaluate and measure students' progress in learning the language, with tests following each unit.

Integration of Language Skills:
The series integrates the four main language skills — listening, speaking, reading, and writing — in a balanced and comprehensive way, with special attention to speaking, listening comprehension, expression, reading, and writing.

Picture Dictionary:
Each book in the series includes a picture dictionary at the end.

Vocabulary List:
At the end of each book, there is a list of all vocabulary presented in the book, along with a bilingual Arabic-English children's dictionary and an English-Arabic glossary.
